Sean Beldon is a South African born, Auckland-based artist painting New Zealand landscapes - mainly in oil. His style leans towards painterly with a modernist feel, swinging between representative and abstract.

Since Aotearoa became his new home in 2007, Sean has travelled up and down the country photographing landscapes and scenes from the far North to the deep South. These journeys later became the inspiration and material for his paintings, when in 2015, he found his way back to the brush and canvas.

"I take time in shooting photos that tells a story of the land and my compositions always originate in my photography of the landscape. By using the viewfinder as a primary canvas, I decide if the emphasis will be on emotionality, light, form or colour."
